School is out for the Summer - Or is it?

The last day for students was last Friday. So what does a principal do on the following Monday? Well, contrary to popular opinion, I'm not going golfing. Actually, I'll be meeting with Mr. Leaver and complete a data analysis on students and start making calls for summer school.

With the data analysis we will try to predict next falls MEAP performance based on this spring's NWEA score. We will also use the data to find gaps in the education of particular students. Those gaps will be given to the summer school staff. The staff will then attempt to fill those gaps with six weeks of summer school.

Speaking of summer school, we will look at the final grades and "invite" students who failed more than one core class to take summer school. If a student does not pass summer school we still retain them at Algonquin.

In the age of NCLB can schools simply promote students?
